Experience Historic Newfoundland Bay by Bay
Bonavista Bay
Price: CDN$19.95
|
There was a time in days gone by, when Newfoundland school children were asked to learn by heart a list of historic bays.
During the 1800's, when Newfoundland was becoming a nation, Bonavista Bay was the country's frontier. Although some may consider our ancestors to have suffered from the 'isolation', they were not only at home on the water, but relished roaming throughout the day in search of virgin fishing grounds, ship's timber and sawlogs. And although the ancient headland villages appear timeless, it is only because they have, in fact, bid farewell to generations of fishing families who headed down to the Labrador or up the bay to found new communities.
Featuring the traditional music of Tickle Harbour.
