Randy Lieb was born in Bavaria in 1936. In the spring of 1972 he moved to Woody Island, Placentia Bay (pop.
1991, 1). He makes his living as a fisherman and labourer
and does his writing at the kitchen table on rainy days...
when he is not painting, reading or entertaining visitors.
On fine days he fishes, cuts firewood, makes hay cleans
out the chicken OoOp or works on his stone house.
The Burned Baby's Arm is Lieb's first novel. He has
said that he simply wanted to tell a story much as it might
be told in a Newfoundland kitchen ... a story for which
ordinary people might reach instead of the TV guide.
It is about the Noseworthy family of berries..... . ordinary
people who struggle with their foolishness and weakness,
to try to make something good out of their lives. For the
most part, they succeed.
