To the east are Europe and Africa, and to the west is North America, and to the South is South America.
Newfoundland lies in the mouth of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and the larger part called Labrador is located in the Eastern Part of Canada, adjacent to Quebec.

Newfoundland is the most easterly province in Canada, and is made up of two parts - the island of Newfoundland and the larger mainland part of Labrador.

The distance from the farthest point of the island Newfoundland in the North to Cape Race in the south is a little over 1700 kilometres, and the distance east to west is approximately 500 km. In the mainland part of the province, Labrador the distances are much greater.
