D’arcy Broderick, who is considered as one of the
best fiddle players in Newfoundland and
Labrador is also one of the finest ballad singers
in the province today.
“by request” is D’arcy’s first solo recording but
definitely not his first recording, as he has been
in many bands over the years ranging from The
Irish Descendants, and currently The Fables and
Middle Tickle. D’arcy’s renditions of the classic
songs “Streets of New York”, “Cliffs of
Baccalieu”, “Shores of Americay” and “Nancy
Spain” as well as “Daisy a Day” prove that he is
indeed a superb balladeer.
“by request” also features incredible fiddle
playing from D’arcy. As well D’arcy co produced
and played most of the instruments on the CD.
