About the Artists...
"A Crowd of Bold Sharemen" is a self titled new release by a group of talented Newfoundland musicians. These five musicians are all well-known and represent the cream of the traditional scene in St. Jones.
Jim Payne, Fergus O'Byme, Gerry Strong, Colin Carrigan and Graham Wells are A Crowd of Bold Sharemen. Bringing together the finest in Newfoundland traditional song and instrumental music, their repertoire includes rousing sea shanties and work songs, poignant ballads, comic ditties, folk tales and recitations, and powerhouse jigs, reels and polkas. They play traditional music on traditional instruments like accordion, mandolin, banjo, bodhran, concertina, tin whistle, flute, fiddle, bouzouki and guitar. And, of course, they all sing.
