E J Wareham was born in Corner Brook in 1957, the youngest of nine children. She is a self-taught artist who's aptitude and interest in drawing and painting was evident even as a preschooler. In 1975, Ellen completed a course in Commerical Art in St. John's. After several years of living and traveling to many parks of Canada, Ellen returned and settled in Corner Brook, where she resides with her three children. Ellen Jean Wareham has a broad interest and appreciation for many forms of art. Her love of Newfoundland's people and unique outport scenery has been the focus of her work for many years.
