Betty Hall
| Betty Hall was fortunate to grow up in an artistic family and attended Art School in London, England in the late 1950's. Due to the demands of a young family and to traveling and living in different parts of the world, art was put on the back burner until she settled in Newfoundland. She was already an artist when she arrived in Newfoundland over thirty years ago, but only in the last few years has "retirement" made it possible for Betty to paint full time.
It is within Newfoundland that Betty Hall began to study printmaking with Don Wright, and taking courses with Julia Pickard, Ilse Hughes and Jean Claude Roy to reestablish her painting. For the last few years Betty has devoted whatever time she could to painting in water colour, acrylic and drawing in charcoal, pen and ink. Her work has been regularly accepted for hanging at the Arts and Letters shows and has earned some awards. Recently, the Newfoundland Horticultural Society published "The Avalon Gardener," a book on gardening for this Province for which Betty did over 50 illustrations including the cover. During the last two years Betty Hall has been successfully selling her work privately.
