Drawing on Water takes
the reader on a journey
through a world of
pathos, anger, joy and
rebirth.
On the surface, the
heightened realism of the
poetry regards
commonplace objects
and everyday
experiences from startling
new angles.
But Wade Kearley's
poetry is also a window on a deeper world, a place where
mood, meaning and sound merge, creating a powerful
voyage of self-discovery.
Wade Kearley was born in 1956 and grew up on the banks
of Manuels River in Conception Bay.
After a succession of training programs and odd jobs, he
discovered his interest in writing.
Since receiving his Fine Arts degree in poetry from the
University of Victoria in 1985, he has worked full time as a
journalist, copywriter, columnist and critic. However, it was
poetry which gave Wade the conviction to become a writer
and it is poetry which remains his passion.
Mr. Kearley presently lives in St. John's, Newfoundland
with his wife, Katherine Gill, and their daughters Julianne
and Sasha.
