Book Description Maggie Rose loves to sing! And her favourite song is “What Colour’s the Ocean Today,” a song she made up with her Grandy about how the ocean changes colour from season to season. Join Maggie Rose and Grandy through Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall and see what colour the ocean is today! Parents and children will both enjoy reading (and singing) What Colour is the Ocean? over and over again. With colourful illustrations and sheet music in the back, What Colour is the Ocean? is sure to become a family favourite . . . no matter what season it is! About the Authors Gary Collins was born in a small, two-storey house by the side of the sea in the town of Hare Bay, Bonavista North. He finished school at Brown Memorial High in the same town and resides in Hare Bay still. He spent forty years in the logging and sawmilling business along with his father, Theophilus, and son Clint. Gary was once Newfoundland’s youngest fisheries guardian. He managed log drives for years down spring rivers, spent seven seasons driving tractor trailers over ice roads and the Beaufort Sea of Canada’s Western Arctic, and has been involved in the crab, lobster, and cod commercial fisheries. His writing career began when he was asked to write eulogies for deceased friends and family. He spent a full summer employed as a prospector before he wrote Soulis Joe’s Lost Mine. He liked the work so much, he went back to school to earn his prospecting certificate. Maggie Rose Parsons has a very special connection with her grandfather, Gary Collins, whom she affectionately calls Grandy. Although she is only seven years old, she has a vivid imagination for storytelling and a passion for music, and she loves to sing and play piano. What Colour is the Ocean? is Maggie Rose’s first book. Scott A. Keating is an award-winning commercial illustrator, designer, and comic-book artist.
