Book Description
Salt Fish and Shmattes is a lively new history that draws on folklore, song and previously undiscovered documents to trace Jewish settlement in Newfoundland and Labrador. From the Devon merchants of the eighteenth century to the Holocaust survivors of World War Two, Jewish settlers chose to make the Rock their home; Salt Fish and Shmattes tells their stories.
