The Newfoundland Poetry Series was begun in 1993 as Breakwater's twentieth anniversary project to honour and preserve the literary talents of our Newfoundland and Labrador poets. Selection is based on quality. Breakwater's aim is to make the series affordable to as many lovers of poetry as possible.
About the Author Alaistair Macdonald was born and educated in the United Kingdom. He attended and has degrees from Aberdeen University, Christ Church, Oxford and the Victoria University of Manchester. From 1955 to 1987 he was a member of the English Department of Memorial University, Newfoundland, where he is now a Professor Emeritus. Six earlier books of poetry have been published: Between Something and Something (U.K., 1970), Shape Enduring Mind (U.S., 1974) A Different Lens (Newfoundland, 1981), Towards the Mystery (Newfoundland, 1994). His poems have been included also in many anthologies and magazines. He is a member of the Writers’ Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador, the League of Canadian Poets, and the Scottish Poetry Library Association
