Book Description One summer day, Emma is exploring her grandparents’ shed with her two friends, Thomas and Jeffrey. The children are excited to discover an old fishing trunk that had belonged to Emma’s great-great-grandfather. Inside is a variety of forgotten artifacts, including a special treasure! Intrigued by the contents of the trunk, the three friends become detectives to find out more about them. About the Author: Gerald N. J. Mercer lives with his wife, Daphne, and three children, Rebecca, Andrew, and Simeon, in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada. Together, they have found family treasures stashed away in drawers, closets, trunks, and boxes. Each find has held clues to a rich heritage. Emma’s Treasure was written in the solitude of the family’s shed in the Straight Shore community of Musgrave Harbour, Newfoundland and Labrador. Gerry hopes Emma’s story will entice his readers to look around and find the value in possessions from the past. They hold family stories just waiting to be discovered. Gerald Mercer has been an educator in Newfoundland and Labrador since 1981. About the Illustrator: Jillian Nicol was born and raised in St. John’s, Newfoundland.
