Book Description
The-Dog-Next-Year is the story of a classic mis-match. Six-year-old Lissa has almost everything a girl could want, except the puppy who runs
through her dreams at night and answers to a secret name. When a dog does arrive in her life,
though, it's not her dreamed of "dog-next-year"
but Jingles, an ageing and somewhat smelly refugee. Through the seasons of a year of her life, Lissa dreams of what could be and comes to
terms with what is. Nancy Keating's colour-drenched illustrations capture the seasons in
and around St. John's, Newfoundland, and bring Lissa's world vividly to life.
