Book Description
For the first time under one cover, Beyond Belief brings together
some of the most incredible and intriguing stories ever collected
of old St. John's. Many of these stories have been gleaned from
the fifteen books written by Jack Fitzgerald since 1980; some are
appearing in print for the first time. All the stories are part of the
unique history of St. John's and its environs.
Collecting these stories into one book provides the reader
with ready access to the incredible side of St. John's long history.
In addition to interesting reading, Beyond Belief can be a valuable aid to residents and visitors alike, helping to organize a
variety of tours of the city for personal enjoyment, or the entertainment of friends and visitors. With topics taken from the
macabre, curious and incredible Beyond Belief will be a valuable
aid to those wanting to promote the colourful history of old St.
John's.
St. John's has, unfortunately, lost most of its physical history
through fire, carelessness and neglect. Beyond Belief is one step
in ensuring that the many stories which contribute to the
colourful mosaic of our St. John's heritage do not meet the same
fate.
