The book provides a vivid account of life in a lighthouse 150 years ago and is illustrated by Mel d'Souza.

The book is a third in a series for children that uses the Historic Sites of Newfoundland and Labrador as settings. The first two books in the series are Marconi's Secret and the Amazing Adventures of Captain Bob Bartlett. Susan Chalker Browne is also the author of Goodness Gracious, Gulliver Mulligan.
